Social Responsibility

Are you involved in any social programmes or charitable projects?

Yes. Ever since bonprix was founded in 1986, a commitment to social programmes has been a key element of our corporate culture. We believe it’s important to encourage our employees to help others.

Uta Poser (bonhelp Executive Board), Rien Jansen (bonprix Executive Board) and Dr Marcus Ackermann (former bonprix-CEO and today's Member of the Executive Board of the Otto Group) visiting the Tirupur School for the Deaf

Since 2001, our employees have supported the Tirupur School for the Deaf in Southern India. It is here that some 350 children and orphans from poor backgrounds are given both an education and a home. The children are taught sign language, literacy and everything else pupils learn at school. We have pledged to continue supporting the wonderful work the school carries out with donations and sponsorship.

The local children’s hospice Sternenbrücke is another project close to the hearts of all our Hamburg-based employees. Since 2003, the hospice has provided terminally ill children and young adults with a sanctuary where they can live out the rest of their lives in dignity. Sternenbrücke also provides support for parents, siblings, grandparents and friends during an impossibly difficult time. It’s an honour for us to help.

How important is a good working climate?

It’s essential.

Here at bonprix, we want our employees to be happy. A friendly manner, an open, relaxed environment and amicable team work are central. A lot of our employees are parents with small children at home – one reason we offer flexible working hours. And as a full subsidiary of the Otto Group, our employees profit from a variety of training programmes for their professional development, as well as a comprehensive range of fitness options for their health.

How do you encourage employees to stay active?

Our fitness scheme is called aktiv.net. and it does what it says on the tin! aktiv.net offers special fitness classes before and after work or in employees’ break times. The classes are designed to promote an active lifestyle – for the body and for the soul. A gym session before work, a course of gentle stretches or back exercises in a lunch break or a Pilates class after a day in the office are all options. Because we like to keep things moving. Short routes, flat hierarchies and a breath of fresh air are part of our daily job. Want to join us?
