How can traditional craft techniques, contemporary design, and a mindful approach to materials provide new inspiration for the fashion of tomorrow? FASHION X CRAFT: Echoes of Tomorrow, an exhibition exploring these questions, has arrived in Hamburg. bonprix is supporting the project as a sponsoring partner of LIFE HAMBURG.
Following its premiere in Berlin, the "FASHION X CRAFT: Echoes of Tomorrow" exhibition is now making a stop in Hamburg before moving on to London. The exhibition opened on 8 October at the LIFE HAMBURG Campus. Together with LIFE HAMBURG and the Fashion Council Germany, bonprix is bringing together diverse perspectives from the worlds of design, craftsmanship, and business.
The exhibition focuses on contemporary fashion design and traditional craft techniques. Five young designers from the V-Collective spent a year exploring traditional techniques such as basket weaving, weaving, and wood- and metalwork, using them to develop a fashion collection. They incorporated fabrics and fibers that would otherwise have gone unused. In addition to the finished looks, sketches, collages, and other insights into the creative process offer a glimpse into how the pieces were developed.
Discussion on the Future of the Fashion Industry
Part of the opening was a panel discussion centered on craftsmanship, design, material culture, and the future of fashion. bonprix Managing Director Carolin Klar also participated in the discussion with designers and other guests.
For bonprix, the special value of such events lies in direct exchange: Many processes and issues in the fashion industry can now be addressed digitally. However, experiencing materials, craft techniques, and new design approaches firsthand opens up additional perspectives and creates space for inspiration and discussion.
By sponsoring FASHION X CRAFT: Echoes of Tomorrow, bonprix, together with LIFE HAMBURG, is supporting a space dedicated to precisely this kind of exchange. The event’s immediate proximity to the company offers an opportunity to consciously look beyond one’s own perspective and engage in conversation with people from the fields of design, craftsmanship, and other areas.
Exhibition runs through the end of October
FASHION X CRAFT: Echoes of Tomorrow is on view through 28 October 2026, at the LIFE HAMBURG Campus, Werner-Otto-Straße 21-27 in 22179 Hamburg. Admission to the exhibition is free.
